I would want to live in the tropical rain forest biome because i like the heat and the beautiful water and trees.

The giraffe and the Acacia plant interest me. The giraffe likes warm to hot temperatures, it eats the Acacia trees and doesn’t have any predators cause of its size. two of its adaptations is its length to reach the trees, and its long tongue helps with getting the leaves. The Acacia plant likes warm temperatures. It adapted by Growing tall.

a.What is your favrite biome and why? Think of somewhere you’d like to live or take a vacation to.
    - My favorite biome would be the marine biome. Because all interesting sea creatures live there and its beautiful under water. So i would go snorkling for a vacation.

b.Research one plant that interests you. Determine which biome they belong to and write a short paragraph for each describing the following information.
-Kelp is shelter and food, which provides good care for animals. Also, humans use Kelp to make ice cream and toothpaste. It also protects the beaches along the coast. Its temperature under water is about 20 degrees celsius.

My favorite biome is the Deciduous forest.i would like to go on vacation there because it has the perfect whether in the summer. I would also like to because it is so pretty in fall because there are so many trees there are so many colored leaves! The black bear is an animal that realy catches my eye. It is a very beautiful animal and we kinda have something in common; we both like to sleep when it is cold. becuase of it thick fur it can survive in the winter and it can also live in the summer in the Deciduous forest.THe black bear eats just about anything therefor it doesnt realy have a preditor. I think that the most suitible temperature for the black bear would be on the colder side because if its to hot they will be burning up. The plant that intrests me is the blue lilly. These plants like an Open shade in mixed or coniferous forest, rich woodlands, cool moist sites. These are very interesting because if you saw one u wouldnt know how poison’s they were. They are so poison’s that some hunters rub their traps with the roots of Clintonia. Not many animals eat it beacuse they are poison’s. Bears are attracted to the odor but it can make them very ill and die.

My Favorite Biome is the Tropical Rainforest. I would love to visit the rainforests. Its Exotic, and unusally and a lot of anmails live there, plus it rains and i love the warm rain like it has. Also the Rainforests seems really pretty, and it has huge trees and seems like tribes would be living there, and it would be a great place to camp out in a tree like ive always wanted to do, it just seems so different and fun, i would love to visit.
1 anaimals that interests me is a Dolphin. A dolphin lives in the marine biome its suitable temperature range varies depending on the type of dolphin if they live in the ocean or rivers, and depending on the depth of the ocean as well.
adaptaions the dolphins have elvolved to have a streamlined fusiform body, adapted for fast swimming and dolphins are thought to have vestigal hind legs (small ones) but there small fins by there gential slit are more developed than the hind legs. There colors of different shades of blue and gray allow them to blend in more with the water and sand. Dolphins eat fish like mackeral herring and sometimes even squid. there predtors are sharks and even man as well orca whales.
    2. Plant that interests me is Bamboo. They live in the rainforest like in asia, so the mid warm temperatures like 70 but can surive from 40 to 100 degrees F. and its desired level for precipitation is around 100 inches of rain per year, it eats by producing its own food and herbivores and omninors like pandas eat the bamboo. it has not had much adaptions but we as humans use it fo ra lot things, for instance like food crafts garding weapons. used in renforcing rods for concret constuction, hats, chopticks, toys, and martial arts weaponary.

A.I would like to visit the Deciduous forest. I love when leaves change colors, i think it is beautiful, so i would got there in Autumn. I dislike hot weather, so it would be perfect to visit there.

B.Barrel Cactus interest me. They have an interesting shape and they even flower. The barrel cactus usually reaches from around five to eleven feet tall.It is covered with dangerously sharp 3-4 inch spines. Myth is, is that the barrel cactus is full of water. It is really filled with a slimy alkaline juice

Polar bears are interesting. They overheat at temperatures higher than 50F, because of their thick undercoats which insulate them. They eat mainly seals, walruses, and whales. These animals are semi-aquatic.

My Favorite Biome is definetaly the Tropical Rainforest. Thats why we did this biome so we could figure out more interesting facts on it! I would love to visit the rainforests and pop up a tent and camp right in the middle of it. Its Exotic and has many different categories of animals all scattered around and in it! Rainforests feel comforting because of the long trees and the crazy noises you would here. The cool weather would be so relaxing and warm.

1.An animal that really interested me was the polar bears that live in the Ice caps or antartica. There weather is always the opposite of ours. when were in summer there in winter and when were in winter there in summer.Depending on the ocean length and the time of year the temperature will vary.Polar bears have sharp claws and killing teeth, that is what they use when they hunt and eat. They rely on themselves and tear there food apart. They mostly live in packs and help one another out. The polar bear mostly eats fish and seals and penguins if there available. The polar bear doesnt have a predator besides humans that go and hunt but that is VERY RARE!
    2. Plant that is exciting to muah is Bamboo! They live in the rainforests in asia, africa, and in wet tropical areas. Bamboo can grow from 40-100 F not very picky with weather. Shockingly enough its desired level of rain is around 120 inches every year. They eat by producing there own food with soil in the ground and spreads by the pandas eating it and leaving pieces in the soil. a lot of different animals eat off of them so they cant really protect themselves. good thing there species havent sank. There still really popular and growing strong all across the world! It doesnt have alot of adaptations because it just grows and grows!!We use bamboo alot in the states and all across the world like hats, sushi chopticks, and some kid toys. Bamboo would be an awesome thing to grow in my backyard!!!!!

2a. My favorite biome is the Tropical Rainforest. I like this biome because of the plants, and exotic animals that live there. This biome has low temperatures. I would want to go there if I could.

2b.The Arctic Fox is located in the Tundra Biome. The Arctic Fox can survive temperatures as low as -58F (-50C) to -94F (-70C). The desired level of moisture for the animal is very low. It eats lemmings, voles, ground squirrels, birds, insects, eggs, fruits, berries, carrion, shellfish, sea urchins, and sometimes eats baby seals if it can find the den. Animals that kill the Arctic Fox are Polar Bears, and humans wanting there fur. Over time the Arctic Fox have adapted to live in the cold Arctic. In the winter, its bushy coat turns white. This makes it hard to see the fox. There thick hair on the pads of their feet protects their feet from freezing and helps them walk on the ice. It also curls up in the snow, and covers its nose and face with its bushy tail to keep warm. The Arctic Fox is well suited for the harsh conditions in the Tundra Biome.

The Cactuses lives in the Desert Biome. It’s suitable temperatures is 45F to 85F. The desired level of moisture for the plant is very low. It gets its energy from the sun. The Cactuses does not have to worry about anything eating it. It has adaptations for obtaining and conserving water, which allows it to live in dry desert conditions. It has thick fleshy stems, and leaves that store water. The sparp spines keep thirsty animals from devouring their water. The cactus is well suited for the desert biome.

my favorite biome is the marine biome.i would like to visit hawaii someday and study the ocean life there beacause the ocean life seems so much different and the water is much more clear and beautiful than california.

i thought the cactus was intresting and it lives in the desert biome which is a very dry and very high temperatured place.the cactus is a plant that contains water and is very useful in the desert to provide for species living in the desert biome.

the killer whale was a animal biome that lives in the marine biome and feeds off of seals and most animals in the ocean.

  9.   Ben Bisetti Per. 5 on December 6th, 2007

    A) My favorite biome would be the Temperate Deciduous Forest. I like forests because of the trees and the seasons and its good hunting. I think someday I will have a home or a cabin in a Temperate Deciduous Forest somewhere in the midwest.

    B) An animal that interests me is a the polar bear. They live in the polar ice caps and hunt on the ice. Polar bears can not survive in a climate above 45 degrees F, but are suited for temperatures well below freezing. Polar bears main diet is the ringed seal, but it has not predators. Two adaptations that it has for its environment are its white coat which allows it to sneak up on seal, and its coat is very thick which keeps it insulated.
A plant that interests me is the Cocoa Tree. The Cocoa Tree needs between 1,150 and 2,500 mm of rainfall per year, and survives in 21 to 32 degree Celsius temperature. The Cocoa Tree is found in the rainforest of Southern America. The tree uses CO2 and sunlight for energy, and its main predators are humans and insects. The Cocoa Tree normally grows very tall in order to fight for sunlight in the rainforest.

My favorite biome would have to be The Tropical Rainforest. I have always wanted to visit a tropical rainforest because I am interested in exploring and learning about the beautiful species that live there. I love the climate in the Tropical Rainforest because it receives plenty of precipitation each year and I love the rain. The forest would be beautiful to explore because of all the colorful animals and tall trees. It would be an amazing experience to camp in a forest.

An animal that interests me is the Polar Bear. Polar Bears are the world’s largest land carnivores weighing 660-1320 pounds. Polar Bears are semi aquatic marine mammals that have adapted to life in the water, land and the ice. Polar Bears have a hollow and translucent fur which appears to be a white or cream colored that provides the bear with effective camouflage. The Polar Bear has thick fat that insulates it against the cold. The Bear has a short tail and small ears to help reduce heat loss and a small head with a long body to streamline it for swimming. Stiff hairs on the bear’s paws provide insulation and traction on the ice. The Polar Bear has large feet in order to walk in the snow. The only predators for the polar bear are human. The Polar Bear feeds mainly on anything it ca kill but mostly on seals, young walruses and whales. Orchids are one of the most abundant and varied flowers. There are over 20, 000 known species of orchids commonly found in moist tropical regions. The ideal temperature for orchids is 60 degrees Fahrenheit in the night and 70 degrees Fahrenheit during the day. Orchids require 40 to 60 percent of humidity throughout the year. Orchids are susceptible to a number of insects and disease problems. Common insect pests are mealy bugs, spider mites, scales and thripes. Some orchid species need specific weather conditions for their flowers to bloom. They will only open for a few hours, pollinate and never open again.

MY favorite biome is the Alpine Tundra, cause mountains are tight. If i had a choice where to live it would probably be the swiss alps just cause of how cool they look.

I like the angler fish. It is part of the marine biome. Its a deep sea fish so it loves cold cold temperatures. It eats fish and has no known predators. ! of its adaptions is that only females have the glowing tip, male anglerfish swim around till they find a female then latch on and literally fuse to the female. Another adaption is its glowing lure that leads fish into it’s mouth.

An interesting plant is the venus fly trap.
it lives mostly in boggy areas in south carolina
the plant enjoys wet roots, high humidity, full sunlight, and poor, acidic soil
The organism eats small insects and it can be killed by bacteria and mold.
The organism has adapted the ability to secrete human like acid to digest insects faster.
It also has trigger hairs in its “mouth” to hgelp it accurately capture insects

My favorite biome would probly have to be the Marie biome beacause of all the unusal kinds of organisms that live and grown down there.i think that my favorite place that i would love to go to for vacation would have to be Australia because its so beautiful.

My favorite animal is the Siberian tiger (Panthera tigris altaica). These tigers have thick fur to keep them warm in the cold climates were they live. Tigers will attack anything that leaves itself vulnerable, they mainly eat deer, wild hogs, and cattle. Depending on the habitat the appitie may change. One adaptation tigers have are thier stripes to camofloge themselves while hunting. Another adaptaion is there huge body, sharp claws and big teeth to take down large prey easier.

I think that Bamboo is an interesting plant because it doesnt need much, and it continusly grows. Bamboo doesnt need a spacific temperature, anywhere from 40 to 100 degrees is good. Bamboos precipitation is 100 to 120 inches of rain a year. Bamboo is the pandas main source of food. It eats by photosynthesis. all though bamboo hasnt really adapted over the years, humans have found many ways to use bamboo in the lives. such as toys, chopsticks, poles, weapons, and are sometimes used on construction sites to secure concrete things.

My favorite biome was the marine biome because there are so many interesting creature that live there and everything about the ocean if beautiful. I would like to live near the ocean in
Bermuda or some place like that.

My favorite animal in the marine biome is the hammer head shark. They have so many interesting qualities and characteristics. The hammerhead shark lives in tropical warm waters. They eat other sharks, all kinds of fish, stingrays, jellyfish, and all sorts of other organism and sometimes garbage. Some adaptations that the hammerhead sharks have evolved to is their sensory skin on the bottom of their nose that enables them to find prey but the slightest movements, also they developed their weirdly shaped head that helps them see on both sides at the same time

    A. My Favorite Biome would be the Tropical Rain Forest beacuse the environment is so refreshing. There is colorful plants and exotic birds everywhere. I would love to vacation here and see all kinds of new species.

    B.
PLANT: The plant that interests me most is the blazing stars located in the Temperate Grassland Biome. The plant blooms in the summer and can be in cold temperatures during the winter and over 100 degrees in the hot months. The organism needs full sun to bloom and it has about an average moisture rate and needs fast-draining soil. The plant has tall spikey flowers to protect it and has to adapt itself to the cold weather in the winter.

    Animal:
The animal I found interesting to learn about was the snowshoe hare from the Taiga Biome. The rabbit can live in moderately cold to below freezing weather in this biome. They eat green grass, forbs, bluegrass, jewelweed, and wild strawberries and during the winter feast on buds, twigs, bark, and evergreens! Predators include foxes, wolves, bobcats, and mink. The Rabbit not only has to adapt to changes in weather but also changes color according to the season to help camoflage the animal from predators.

A.) my favorite biome is the marine biome because i think it is the most interesting and it has much to be discovered. I would like to take a vacation to some tropical island.

B.) An interesting plant would be algae because it grows really fast and could take over a huge piece of water within a day or so. Temeperature that best fits the lifestyle of algae would be at any temperature. Algae also helps out the world alot by producing most of the oxygen in the world. Algae must have water to live. algae is usualy eaten by primary consuers. algae has learned to live off of the sun and water to survive.
The most interesting marine animal i think would be the shark. the temperature that sharks live in can vary from 75 degrees F to Right above freezing depending on species. Sharks have to be in water to survive and constintly be moving. Humans are its only predators. they could eat fish, seals, whales, turtles, birds, and people. Sharks learned how to sense different electrical currents in organisms to help the find food. the also have a great sense of smell.

My favorite biome would have to be the TUNDRA well because it is the youngest bime and i love the cold temp
well my favorite animal would have to be the artic fox its home in small burrows in frost-free ground in low mounds or in rock piles because the arctic fox is a scavenger it usually finds food to eat sometimes the fox will follow Polar bears and feed off the remains they leave behind. it fur keeps it warm and also provides camo b/c the color of the fur is white
My favorite plant would have to be the pasque flower the plant grows facing the slopes,Below the flower around the stem is a leaf covered in silky hairs as is the rest of the plant the fruit of the plant is a plum that is achenial which means that one seed is attached to the ovary wall like a strawberry seed.also grows close to ground to keep out of the cold :] Very Nice

The “Tropical Rain Forest” would have to be my favorite biome! I think its a very unique and beautiful place. It would be interesting to go there a see the different kinds of animal species and plants. It would a perfect vacation to go to Costa Rica and visit a rain forest!

    b.
One of my favorite plants will have to be the columner cactus. I think it is very interesting to see how these plants can survive in an empty biome with not a lot of water. These cactuses can survive in really hot tempeatures. They live in desert biomes so they so not need a lot of water if they can survive in the heat. Cactuses have thick roots to store water in and help them live!

My favorite animal has to be the koalas! Koalas are used to warm temperatures. A koalas usual diet is leaves, or tree bark. They get their water from leaves. Koalas are called koala bears because of the way they look, but its just “Koalas”.

  18.   Erika Hageman on December 6th, 2007

A.What is your favorite biome and why? Think of somewhere you’d like to live or take a vacation to.

    - my favorite biome is both the marine and polar biomes. I love both of them but most of my favorite animals are in the polar…marine biome. I love how isolated it is and how the animals learn to adapt in those areas. My dream before I die is to go to Antartica, I think it is one of the most amazing places on this earth, and i hate how blinded people are by not seeing how big of an impact global warming is on it.

    B. When it comes to the polar biome, almost all the animals that live there are my favorite. I love walruses, polar bears, penguins but mostly I love Orcas (killer whales). They belong to both the polar and marine biome. Oracas eat up to 3-4% of their own weight everyday. Orcas prey on pretty much everything they can get to. Animals as little as squid to as big as a polar bear or blue whale have been found as meals to orcas. Orcas are black and white which helps them blend in with the ocean for when hunting animals such as penguins, they think it is a reflection of the ocean. They also can swim up to 30mph, great speed helps when hunting big prey. Fortunetly for Orcas, they are at the top of the food chain, they have no predators. Orcas live in colder waters mostly in the atlantic or upper pacific oceans.

In polar biomes, plants are mostly lichens, moss, grasses and some flowers. Most plants that are found in this biome are shrubs and tree branches.

If i could pick one biome that i would like to live in it would be the tropical Rainforest because i love tropical colors and animals! The smell of all the plants and animals would be great! and i love trees and would love to wake up to all the birds singing!
its so beautiful and has gorgeous waterfalls that i would love to swim in! Its just all together perfect. Oh yeah and i would love the fruit! :)

A plant that cought my eye was the Epiphytes, they are the plants that live on the surface of other plants, especially the trunk and branches. They grow on trees to take advantage of the sunlight in the canopy. Most are orchids, bromeliads, ferns, and Philodendron relatives. Tiny plants called epiphylls, mostly mosses, liverworts and lichens, live on the surface of leaves.

A animal would be the toucan it is about 20 inches 50 cm long. The toucan has a huge bill that is up to one-third of its length. The bill is brightly colored, light-weight, and edged with toothed margins. It has four toes on each foot, two toes face forwards and two face backwards. Males are slightly larger than females, but their coloration is similar.Toucans eat mostly fruit, but also eat bird eggs, insects, and tree frogs. Toucans swallow fruit whole and then regurgitate the seeds, this disperses viable seeds in the forest.
This Plant and animal both are located in the tropical rainforest!

My favorite biome would have to be the polar icecaps because it has the polar bear and the penguines. I would like to take a vaction to Antartica because i want to see the ice glacers so that i can check them out and see what i can do to help protect them.

    b. Research 1 plant and 1 animal that interests you. Determine which biome they belong to and write a short paragraph for each describing the following information. The animal that interest me is the punguin. The penguin is a water bird that cannot fly. Most penguins live in icy places like Antartica or near it. They spend most of their lives in water looking for food. On land they are able to stand upright. They walk with a waddle. The are able to walk as fast as humans. There are 17 different types of penguins. The penguins belong to the ploar icecaps biome.
The plant that interst me is the mesquite tree. The roots extend as deep as 263 feet. Its biome is the dessert. Mesquite trees are the most common shrubs.

1QUESTION. What is your favorite biome and why?

1ANSWER.My favorite biome is the “Marine biome”.

The reason I like that biome so much is because its a beautiful sight to see.I like to explore and the ocean has so many species that we have discover’d and there is still a wide variety left to be yet unfoled to the human world.

2QUESTION.Think of a biome that you’d like to live in or take a vacation to.

2ANSWER.well. a biome that i already visit is the desert and its pretty amazing we go to glamis and ride quads and race trophy trucks and things like that.

3QUESTIONResearch 1 plant and 1 animal that interests you.

3ANSWER the plant that has caught my eye was the tropical pitcher plant. They attract insects with the odor of nectar. Once inside, the insect finds it cannot get a grip on the walls of the pitcher because of a waxy texture on the interior surface peels off as it struggles to climb. Eventually, it falls into the water and struggles to escape. The motion caused by the struggle stimulates digestive glands to release a digestive acid.the insect then is dissolved and drown’d to death.

3ANSWER the animal i like is The thylacine “the tasmianian tiger”it looks like a large, long dog, with stripes, a heavy stiff tail and a big head. Its scientific name, Thylacinus cynocephalus, means pouched dog with a wolfs head. Fully grown it measured about 180 cm (6 ft) from nose to tail tip, stood about 58 cm (2 ft) high at the shoulder and weighed up to 30 kg. The short, soft fur was brown except for 13 – 20 dark brown-black stripes that extended from the base of the tail to almost the shoulders. The stiff tail became thicker towards the base and appeared to merge with the body.

both the tropical pitcher plant and the tasmanian tiger live mostly in austrialia. the tiger is extinct and the plant has only 91 species remaning.

Determine which biome they belong to and write a short paragraph for each describing the following information.

my favorite biome is the tropical rainforest because it is so pretty and there are a lot of interesting animals that live in it. and it seems like it would be a fun place to go to someday to spend some time with the environment, looking at all of the scenery.

one animal that i find very interesting is the cheetah. the cheetah is a large cat chiefly found on the grassy plains of Africa or the saharan savannas and arid zones. it is the fastest animal for running short distances. they can run at top speed of about 70 miles per hour, but can maintain the speed for only a few yerds or meters.
one plant that i find very interesting is the venus fly trap.the leaves of venus flytrap open wide and on them are short hairs called trigger or sensitive hairs. when anything touches these hairs enough to bend them the two lobes of the leaves snap shut trapping whatever is inside. when the trap closes over food, the cilia. finger-like projections, keep larger insects inside.

the venus flytrap is one of the easiest carnivorous plants to grow, they have only a few requirements such as, wet roots, high humidity, full sunlight, and poor, acidic soil.

if it gets very cold in your area it may need to be moved away from the window or covered at night in order to keep them warm and moist.

they live in poor soil and are healthier if they get nutrients from insects. some of the venus flytrap’s pretators are any animal that eats plants, and will not get harmed by it. and any humans that might destroy it.

two adaptations that might help the venus flytrap to survive is if it is around a swamp or sitting water, where it could get more insects hovering around the sitting water or if it is in a place where there are not a lot of herbivores that would eat it.

when a herd is grazing and unaware of its presence, a cheetah often tries a running approach to get within sprinting range before the animals take flight. a cheetah sprinting flat-out after a gazelle overtakes it with apparent ease. there are no pretators for the cheetah, but more than half of all of the cheetah cubs are killed by hyenas, leopards and lions.

two adaptations that the cheetah has in its environment are its speed, which helps it catch all of its food, and its stealth and silence when hunting its prey.

  24.   Brittany Buckley period 5 on December 6th, 2007

The marine biome, would have to be my favorite. It is the largest of the biomes covering seventy percent of Earth’s surface, and controls much of Earth’s weather climate. I absolutely love the water and think that all the life that lives within the ocean is beautiful and enthralling to those of us that cannot breath under the depths of the sea.

Elephants have always facinated me because of their size and strength, being the largest land mammals alive today. Due to their size they do not have any actual predator, but there has been occasion where lions may take to preying on elephants. Elephants may be the largest land mammals alive today, but they do not prey on anything but grass. They are herbivores, and spend sixteen hours a day consuming grasses, which make up fifty percent of their diets. They live their lives more commonly in the Savanna Biome, which is made up of rolling grasslands scattered with shrubs and isolated trees, which can be found between a tropical rainforest and the desert. There are two very different types of seasons that the elephants are forced to adapt to, the very long dry season, winter, and the very wet season, summer. This forces them to constantly move around to find food, but they are capable due to their size. But, of course their best adaptation to their size and environment is their trunk, giving them the ability to eat food, without which it would be much more difficult.

The Venus fly trap is not like other plants. Though it does gather nutrients from the soil, and gases in the air, the soil is not rich enough to allow the plant to thrive healthily. So, it gathers insects for nutrition as well. Due to the rare extremity of this plant people began to gather them in their own curiousity so they are now grown in greenhouses, and most commonly are not found in the wild. Though they once thrived in boggy areas, with very specific conditions such as wet roots, high humidity, full sunlight, and poor, acidic soil. This organism, though it does not contain a nervous system, has the ability in which is still unknown, to react within a second of a live, moving insect in its grasp. The Venus Fly Trap can take up to twelve days to digest the insect fully. The time it takes for the trap to reopen depends on the size of the insect, temperature, the age of the trap, and the number of times it has gone through this process.

The animal is the penguin, they use there wings to help them swim, it is the flightless bird its predators mainly the seal it eats small fish. The air layer also helps insulate the birds in cold waters.it can lives in cold The air layer also helps insulate the birds in cold waters.it can survive in low temperature

    A. my favorite biome would be the marine biome because i love the sea life and all the creatures that live in the ocean. i would love to take a vacation to hawii or somewhere that i can go into the ocean and learn more about the environment down there.
    B. one animal that interest me would be a penguin. they belong to the marine biome. the suitable temperature range for the penguins would be 37.8°C to 38.9°C. Penguins eat mostly fish and crustaceans such as krill. As cute as they are, penguins are hunted. They are hunted by other birds, fish, and mammals (including humankind indirectly). There are three birds that prey on penguins. They do not prey on adult penguins; however, they do like the newly hatched chicks or unhatched eggs. They all have an advantage over penguins. Heavy, solid bones act like a diver’s weight belt, allowing them to stay underwater. Their wings, shaped like flippers, help them “fly” underwater at speeds up to 15 mph. In addition to blubber for insulating warmth, penguins have stiff, tightly packed feathers that overlap to provide waterproofing.
one plant that i am interested in would be the zoo plankton. the zoo plankton belong to the marine biome. zoo planktons suitable temperature range is the temperature of the water of the ocean it gets use to it. the desire of level of moisture is quiet a lot, it lives in the water, so its use to moisture all the time. the predators for zoo plankton is everything in the ocean. two adaptations are Zoo plankton also include the nanoplanktonic flagellates that help keep bacteria populations under control and Zoo plankton are highly responsive to nutrient levels, temperatures, pollution, food that is not nutritious, levels of light, and increases in predation.

    A. My Favorite Biome would be the Tropical Rainforest. i would want to take a vacation there becase it looks so pretty in the pictures. Plus i would want to see all of the plant and animal life since it is the biome that has the most variety of that. :]

    B.
PLANT: Calliandra. Found in the desert biome=. Leaves finely divided into tiny leaflets. Flower clusters showy due to the numerous and conspicuous red stamens. The flowering season lasts for 6-8 weeks in winter. Calliandra needs light, warmth and moist air.

Animal: Cheetah. Would live in the grassland biome. The cheetah is built for speed, with a deep chest, wasp waist, and proportionately longer limbs than the other big cats. It usually weighs 40 – 60 kg (88 – 132 lb).

    a. What is your favorite biome and why? Think of a biome that you’d like to live in or take a vacation to. – Well personally my favorite biome would have to be the marine biome because of the vast majorities of species that live there. It is also very beautiful. I would definately enjoy taking a trip down to the underwater hotel. that would be a blast.

    b. Research 1 plant and 1 animal that interests you. Determine which biome they belong to and write a short paragraph for each describing the following information.

Bottlenosed Dolphin: Bottlenosed dolphins prefer warm, shallow, inshore waters but also travel far to hunt and find other prefered waters. The bottlenosed dolphin lives in the ocean; therefore it is always moist and wet. These animals mainly eat small fish and squid. Its main predators are large sharks and whales. Dolphins have a streamlined fusiform body, adapted for fast swimming and there brains are large so they are very smart to be able to handle themselves in threatening situations.

Kelp: Kelp usually lives in warmer waters because it needs sunlight for growth. Kelp lives underwater; therefore desires 100% level of moisture. The plant cannot eat anything because it is a plant but it is fed by the water and sunlight to grow strong and plentiful. It is the main source of food for many marine animals. Kelp adapts to the temperature of water and it also adapts to the amount of sunlight that is available in certain areas.

    A) my favorite biome was savanna because i think it would be fun to go there on vacation and maybe go on a safari.
B)1. one plant i liked was the acacia tree because it can survive in extremely hot temperatures and only needs about four inches aof rain a year to survive. it predators are all herbavores. it has adapted in a way that it is fir proof. when a fire occurs, it lets its seeds go, but itself is not harmed. also its roots are deeper grown then most trees so that its roots are able to absorb more water that it does not get from rain.
    2. one animal i find interesting is the giraffe beacase of just how tall it is. its is able to withstand hot temperatures and does not mind the dry season. it is an herbivore and its predators are all secondary consumers such as hyenas and also lions. two adaptations can be that is is hooved and so the hot and hard ground does not hurt it and that its neck is so long there is not much competition with it for food.

a)Well my favorite biome was the marine biome because I like all the different species in the ocean and some that are yet to be discover. To me the best thing in this planet is the ocean, I really enjoy all the fish and the big animals like the dolphin. Well my favorite place to go visit would be in Hawaii, it would be so amazing to go there and check out all the new things that I will learn.
    b) well the animal that most interest me is the penguin (the emperor penguin). It interest me so much for many reasons but my first reason is because it is one of my favorite animals. The penguin is an a aquatic bird (it does not fly), most of them live in the southern hemisphere, there are about 17-20 species of penguins, they eat fish and all other species in the ocean, Well it is well adapted to aquatic life and their wings have become flippers, they also use their wings and tail to keep balance, they can live in very cold places like the Antarctic area. The best thing about the penguin it is that it does not fear of humans, it is really friendly!!!! The biome that it belongs is the polar biome. I forgot to mentioned that the killer whale is one of its predator. “I love happy feet!!!!!!!!” one of the best movie out there!
One of the most amazing plant to me is the orchid plant it is an exotic plant I love this plant it is one of my favorite plant because my mom introduced it to me when I was little, from then on that is my favorite plant. There are about 20,000 species around the world. Some of these plants can only be kept inside a home or somewhere near a shaded place, some of them can’t stand the heat. The orchid is mostly found in the tropical moist area’s. It completely dependent on fungi feeding on decaying on plant and stuff that comes of it, To them its all nutrients. different kinds of bugs eat the leaves of the orchids. They say that these plants have co-existed in the dinosaur years, they say that they have evolve very early in evolution family. They belong to the tropical rainforest

AI would love to visit the polar ice caps. I think the snow is beautiful and i would want to build a snowman.

B.I think bamboo plants are really interesting. They look cool. Bamboo prefer temperatures between 40 degrees Fahrenheit and 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Bamboo need a lot of rain. They can live for 25 to 40 years. It adapts to its environment by growing tall fast so it gets a lot of rain and sunlight.

I really like penguins, they are fascinating. Penguins can swim but can not fly. Thy also have webbed feet. They swim very fast because of their torpedo shaped bodies. They live in freezing conditions and eat fish.

    a. What is your favorite biome and why? Think of a biome that you’d like to live in or take a vacation to.

-My favorite biome would have to be the tropical rain forest because its so full of life and because its the most vacation like place.

1 plant that really interests me is the nepenthes which belongs to the tropical rain forest biome and dosent have any roots and attaches itself to rocks and bugs fall into its tube and decompose inside.this plants humidity levels have to be high because of the sticky stuff it has to capture its prey.

1 animal that really interests me is the clouded leopard which belongs to the tropical rain forest biome because its a cool animal that is very rare to encounter and has never been filmed before, the leopard has many adaptations because it has camouflage that hides it from its prey and it has stealth like ability’sit has no predators.

  33.   Rebecca brennan on December 6th, 2007

    1. My favorite biome is the temperate forest because of all the animals and i love how the leaves change their color. The trees are so tall and majestic.

    2. An animal that i find interesting is the orangutan. They are really intelligent. They are found in the rainforest biome. They eat sugary fruits. They are very territorial so they are their own enemies. They are smart and can make feeding tools. One adaptation i think helps them is that they have opposable thumbs.

A plant that i find interesting is the aloe vera plant. Aloe Vera is located in the desert of Northen Africa. It can be used on the skin to treat cuts and burns because it reduces the inflammation .It can also be used in food. It grows best in direct sunlight and likes a hot dry temp.It needs temps. above 40 degrees.

    a. my favorite biome has to be the tropical rain forest for all the diverse animals that can sustain life there.
    to visit?
to be darling i’d say the polac ice caps.
    purely for penguin-like interests.

    b. Research 1 plant and 1 animal that interests you. Determine which biome they belong to and write a short paragraph for each describing the following information.

1 plant – the passion flower or passion vine, and purple passion flower.(Passiflora incarnata) it has religious affliation and over 500 species. I just like it because its perrty. (pretty) the exact location isnt known, the passion flower is thought to have originated somewhere in the Caribbean or southeastern North America (near Florida). Most other species of Passiflora originated in the tropical rainforests of South America. if eaten is a psycho active drug and a hallucinogenic. It prefers loose soil, humid temperatures but lots of water.

    - Giraffe
Giraffes, with their exceptionally long legs, are by far the tallest mammals on earth. Giraffes are found in the central and South African savannah (African plains), from south of the Sahara desert to as far south as South Africa. They have a very long neck and a small head with three horns. (alien status) The giraffe’s height enables it to feed on leaves and shoots beyond the reach of other competing animals, so it doesnt have much competition for food, except from other giraffes. It has a black/blue ugly long tounge. There vegetarians cuz there cool like that.
Most giraffes have no predetors because of its stature, but some crazy enough lions or cheetahs might go for the younger, smaller baby giraffes.

Two adaptations it has adapted to live is its long neck for food (no competion) and its ability to run extremely fast just in case a predator tries to mess with them.

    A. My favorite biome is the Marine biome. This is because the ocean is filled with such amazing organisms that it is unfathomable what is really down there. I would like to visit Australia and New Zealand, because i would like to travel to a place where the culture and surroundings are much different the the U.S

    B. 1 plant that interests me is the Kelp forest. They occur in cold water and are among the most beautiful and biologically productive habitats in the marine environment. They are found throughout the world in shallow open coastal waters. A dependence upon light for photosynthesis restricts them to clear shallow water and they are rarely much deeper than 15-40m. In southern California kelp can grow 30 cm per day.

1 animal that interests me is the Angler Fish. this fish is interesting because it has a very unique trait about it. This fish can create its own light from chemicals in its body, known as
Bioluminescence. This is a very useful trait in the pitch black waters of the deep open ocean. Its light that dangles above its mouth helps it attract its prey, and when it gets to close, its done. The fishes suitable temperature range is mostly freezing or around it due to the fact that there is no sunlight in the aphotic zone. The Angler fish eats other fish. The angler does not have any predators because it is so aggressive and it is the top smaller predator of the aphotic zone. The angler has adapted to complete darkness be bioluminescence, and that it can open its mouth so wide that it can swallow prey up to twice its size. The marine biome is truely amazing

    a. What is your favorite biome and why? Think of a biome that you’d like to live in or take a vacation to.

-My favorite biome is the tropical rain forest because of all the variety of trees and animals that we see on T.V and being able to see them up close in the wild would be a once in a life time experience.

    b. Research 1 plant and 1 animal that interests you. Determine which biome they belong to and write a short paragraph for each describing the following information.

-One animal that really interest me is the cheetah. This animal lives in the savanna and has many adaptions that has helped survived until now. one of those adaptions is the ability to run at such fast speeds and another one would be the color of its fur and how it blends into its sorroundings. The cheetah is in top of the food chain because it does not have any predators.

-A plant that really gets my attention is the venus fly trap. This plant is the one that impresses me the most because of its way it catches its prey. This plant is very delicate when it comes to soil. the soil needs to have the exact minerals the plant needs in order to survive.

  37.   Sarah Field on December 7th, 2007

When I was a little one I always used to watch this National Geographic movie on the Savanna in Africa. My sister would hate that I watched it so much, but I did not care, it interested me and my mom said it was going to make me smarter. I guess it did because I learned a lot about the animals and plants in this biome. For example: the Caracal and the Baobab.
Now the Baobab tree it a very intense tree. This tree belongs to the Savanna biome; I really like the savanna biome. There are many ways to describe the looks of this tree but the best way I suppose would be to tell the legend of how it came into being. The legend goes that “the devil plucked up the baobab, thrust its branches into the earth and left its root in the air.” These amazing tree can live for thousand of years and can grow anywhere from 16 to 82 ft tall (5-25 m) and 22 ft in diameter (7 m)! That’s huge! A baobab tree lives in a arid climate which means that most of the year water is not in great supply so the tree has adapted to the droughts of the savanna by storing water in their monstrous trucks. 27,242 gallons can be store through the droughts for this amazing tree to live on. But when the rain does come this tree sucks up all it can get. These droughts are always making wild fires spring up fast and destroy many organisms. The baobab however has a fire resistant trunk to save itself from the harsh fires.
I will forever remember this one animal of the savanna/desert because of its weird other name, Washag! This small cat like animal looks kind of like a lynx and it was once thought to be related to the African lynx but it isn’t related at all. Because of the climate in the savanna and desert this animal is well adapted to the heat and environment. The Washag’s ears, which probably were what made it look related to the lynx, are an amazing adaptation for this hungry animal. Its ears are controlled by twenty different muscles just to hear and catch his meals. In the winter small animals like rodents and hare fall to this skilled killer, in the summer if food is scares this it may attack gazelles, young ostriches, and even antelope although these kind of feasts are rare and far between. But the most favorite dish the cat desires are birds. Birds are no match to this predator! The Washag will climb up a tree and wait until the bird is in flight and jump out to catch its prey. Although the Caracal would probably be taken down by the lions and a pack of African Wild Dogs the most prominent prey to these creatures are humans. They are easily traded and because of this fact they are taken into captivity and not put back into their natural environment to breed.
That movie showed me a lot and I’m actually considering watching it after I’m done with this, but I’m really happy that I had this educational movie in my childhood. Ever since then my dream has been to go to Africa one day, bask in the savanna sun, check out all the coolness of the environment, get a big old beat up Jeep that’s only good for off roading and brave the Savannas to my hearts content till the day I die!

I would have to say the Taiga is my favorite biome because I love the cold weather as well as the beautiful scenery.

The Arctic Fox belongs to the Tundra biome. The Arctic For can stand extremely cold temperatures without any problems. The Arctic For eats the Arctic Hare and the Snowy Owl and only has to worry about the arctic Wolf and hunters as their predators. To adapt to the Tundra they have compact bodies keeping them warm. They also have thick foot pads, which protect against the cold and give them traction on ice.

The Arctic Willow belongs to the Tundra biome. The Arctic Willow can grow in extreme arctic temperatures and is said to live up to 230 years old. 6-14in of precipitation is the desired amount of moisture for the willow. The Arctic Hare is the main predator of the Arctic Willow. The Willow adapts by being close to the ground due to high winds. It also takes it time to grow thats how some can be over 200 years old.

  39.   Andres Herrera per.5 on December 7th, 2007

My favorite biome was the tropical rainforest because of all the interesting plants and animals like the jaguar which the jaguar is a near threatened species and its numbers are declining because of habitat loss. There average lifespan is 12 to 15 years. Jaguars also eat larger animals such as deer, peccaries, capybaras, and tapirs. They sometimes climb trees to prepare an ambush, killing their prey with one powerful bite. I don’t give a crap about plants except eating them. The rainforest has all kinds of crazy plants. The stinging tree The leaves and stem are covered with microscopic tiny hollow glass fibers filled with alkaloid toxins. Any item touching the plant must be thrown away.

    a) My favorite biome would have to be the tropical rain forest. It’s my favorite because it has the biggest diversity in organisms. There’s so much life in a tropical rain forest. I wouldn’t necessarily want to live there because maybe that would all get annoying after awhile [especially all the rain] but I’d definitely want to visit there to get away from all the city life and feel more at one with nature.

    b) One plant that interests me is the California poppy which belongs to the grassland biome. It’s suitable temp. range is probably anywhere from 60-70 degrees because it grows best in full sun and sandy, well-drained, poor soil. No organisms can eat it because it’s poisonous if injested. Two adaptations it has evolved would have to be longer leaves [if it comes from a colder climate] to allow the seedheads to dry on it. Also, it can grow taller which allows it to absorb more sun in colder climates as well.

c)One animal species that interests me would be sea turtles which obviously belongs to the marine biome. It’s suitable temperature range would be that of it’s habitat because they are cold blooded. It lives in the water so that’s pretty self explanitory as far as it’s level of moisture. Sea turtles eat other small animals in the sea like jellyfish. It’s predators are usually Tiger sharks and Killer whales. One adaptations would definitely have to be it’s size which enables it for easier survival from larger predators, another would be the texture of it’s shell like the leather back sea turtles which allow it to escape easier from other predators.

  41.   Daniel Keo p.3 on December 7th, 2007

My favorite biome would be the marine biome because it contains many interesting and unique species. It’s interesting to think about all the animals that have lived in the waters now and way back when in prehistoric times. Man has traveled down to the deep seas, but they have not seen everything. So who knows, maybe there are still some sort of dinosaur species still swimming around..

I would like to visit Europe. I find the accent pretty interesting, and I would like to take a first hand look at how teenagers live their lives and spend their time.

One animal that I find truly interesting are chinchillas. Don’t ask me why because I won’t have an answer for you. Chinchillas prefer to be in cool/warm temperatures, ranging from 50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Chinchillas mainly eat alfalfa pellets and fresh vegetables. Chinchillas predators are snakes, owls, and mainly man. Their fur is popular with coats and purses, and are often captured and killed strictly for their fur. Chinchillas have the ability to jump, cling, and climb over rocks, and these are basically its adaptations that allow them to survive in the wild.

A plant that interests me is aloe vera. I think this plant is interesting because it is used in so many body lotions and health care products as well as medicines to heal, protect, or moisten your skin. Aloe vera is known to be grown in humid or warm areas. It can be grown in your back yard. Aloe vera is like a cactus, it doesn’t need to be watered like a regular plant or rose bush, etc. Aloe vera is now popular in yogurts, juices, and smoothies. However, is not recommended to eat as is. An adaptation that aloe vera has is the ability to live longer by not having to be watered often or sometimes at all and it can be grown in almost any kinds of water except the arctic.

  42.   Lauro McGowan Per. 7 on December 7th, 2007

My favorite biome is the temperate forest. I am cold weather kinda guy and I love when it snows. I would love to take a vacation to British columbia. that is where one of the biomes are located. there are monsterous trees and it is very cool and thick like a forest out of a fairy tale.

The black bear of the temperate forest biome has a suitable temperature range up to about 75 degrees and when it is snowing out side close to freezing tempuratures. The bear is ann omnivores son it eats small animals like rabbits and eats nut and berries off of the ground and in trees. Two things that the bear has evovled to better its survival is longer claws and thicker furb with layers of fat. This is so the bear can climb trees and saty warm in the harsh witers.

The lichen plant is the organism that interest me the most. It breaks down rocks with out hardly any thing, It works abot all year round except in the winter with those freezy tempuratures. Thw levell of moisture it lives in can be fromm 30-60 inches of rain a year. So its farily wet cosidering that the forest is the wetes place on earth compared to the rain forest.

  43.   Gina on December 7th, 2007

Eventually, one day I would like to like in a desert biome. I love the heat and the dryness, and in the winter the extreme cold temperatures. It’s all about extremes in the desert.

One plant that interests me is the saguaro cactus. It’s temperature range is anywhere from the coldest to the warmest of temperatures. It does not need a lot of moisture because it is a succulent plant, so it has a waxy coat and i thick stem so it can store water. birds do peck at the saguaro, but it has no predators besides that. To better survive to its environment, the saguaro has developed prickers all around the plant and its flower buds are at the very top of the tree so that animals can’t get to them.

One animal that interests me in the desert is the king snake. It survives in moderate to intense temperatures. It does not need a lot of moisture because it is very adapted to the dry temperatures. The king snake is given it’s name because it eates other snakes as well as rodents. It is a non venomous snake.

  44.   NICK LAAAWWSON on December 10th, 2007

i would like to live in a tropical rain forest biome like everyone else in the world because of the year round temperature and usually there is a body of water around such as an ocean.

my favorite plant would have to be the cactus not only for its defense mechanisms of fat needles but its abilities to retain water for a very long time, and give a home for many desert like creatures. the plant can take extreme heat, there are no leaves on it just a long stem sometimes flowers. This plant requires very little water and can go many days without it. some animals will eat the fruit of it such as tortoises.

My animal of interest would have to be south american frog that is poisonous, it is the only frog that walks. If yopu have never thought about it before thats pretty cool they usually hop. They live in tropical areas, only local to south america one adaptation the frog has taken is the poison glands on its back when harmed or threaten it secretes a poison that is a hallucinagenic drug, so if you mess with him youll be trippin for 10hours. the frog likes very moiste places and has no predators due to its defense……. i could not find the name of this frog but i found a cool looking one that you could check out with the same defense mechanism very very very cool looking….. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/06/070605-amazon-photos.html

    A. My favorite biome has to be the tropical rain forest for many reasons. Firstly its temperatures are very tolerable averaging about 80 degrees year round. It also rains quite a lot, about 150 millimeters of rainfall per year!, on average it rains more during December and January. You may wonder why i would like so much rain, and the answer is simple; Warm rain is very enjoyable and relaxing to just sort of meditate in.

    B. My Favorite Animal is the Gold And Yellow Macaw. This animal lives mostly in the canopy of the rain forest. It tolerates the high precipitation of upwards of 20 mm in anyone month quite well and thrives in the rainforest’s average temperate of 80 degrees. A interesting fact about the Macaw is that it must regularly ingest clay or some other grainy substance to help with digestion, some believe it is a sort of antidote to the poisonous seeds that they eat. While i could not find a predator of this bird. deforestation is the leading cause of the extinction of this bird. With many other breeds of macaws extinct in the wild and some that are very rare these birds are slowly disappearing. The bird eats many kinds of seeds and also ingests clay.

The bird has adapted by flight, and by eating seeds that other birds can not tolerate. These birds feathers are also waterproofed to avoid being weighed down

My Favorite tree is the typical rain forest tree. For many reasons, firstly they grow in such a exotic place and add to the magnificence of the forest. And secondly is because they provide the earth with a amazing amount of oxygen. Sometimes called the Earth’s Lungs this forest generates enormous amounts of oxygen. These plants also have to deal with poor soil quality due to all the precipitation and still thrive which is a feat in itself. Being adapted to its environment the tree lives wonderfully in high rainfall areas.

    a. my favorite biome is marine because i think it is amazing that there is such a large biodiversity. it is also the largest of all the ecosystems. this would be an amazing place to go on an vacation a boat in the water.

    b. My favorite animal has got to be the Giant squid. This animal belongs to the marine biome. Recent estimates put the maximum size at 43 ft for females and 33 ft for males from caudal fin to the tip of the two long tentacles. The giant squid is the second largest mollusc and the second largest of all extant invertebrates. Adult giant squids’ only known predators are sperm whales.
My favorite plant it the cactus. This plant it strong in defence but is beautiful in a unique way. cactus can be found in deserts, semi-deserts and dry steppes. this plant dose not need a lot of water. It is a strong plant.
